The Leeds Schools' Badminton Leagues exist to promote regular competition between schools during the Autumn and Spring terms. Results for last season are on the schooldocs page. Entries are invited at Under 12, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form levels. There are separate teams for boys and girls, except for Under 12 level, where teams can be mixed. Each team consists of four players and a match involves a combination of both singles and doubles. A school will play the other teams in the league (approx. 6 matches) once in the season, either Home or Away, by agreement between the team managers. Matches are arranged during the school week at the end of the afternoon session. Travel is usually by school minibus, but teams of four do allow the use of a staff car, if that is preferred. Shields are awarded to league winners at the end of each season.
For schools that have not yet entered the leagues, there is the prospect of rapid improvement in standards of play through competition, and increased interest and participation shown by students. Entries to the leagues are invited during summer term. The entry forms will be uploaded to this site as soon as they become available. At present, there are about a dozen schools participating, each entering several teams at different age levels.
